League of American Bicyclists - Online Traffic Skills Class Available

July 05, 2012 6:56 AM | Anonymous member (Administrator)

As part of it's mission to educate drivers of all vehicles about cycling, TBA supports a number of efforts to raise our collective traffic skills right here in Tidewater.

Toward that end we wish to announce that the League of American Bicyclists has made their flagship Traffic Skills 101 course available online for free. The online training covers what is normally taught in a classroom and allows you to take it at your own pace from the comfort of your home or office:

http://www.bikeed.org

After completing the online course you can contact a League Cycling Instructor (LCI) to schedule the practical "hands on" training which includes parking lot drills and on-road practice with a certified instructor.

The LAB's traffic skills classes have long been recognized as the most complete, comprehensive bicycle driver training available. This new option of completing a portion of the class online opens the doors to many with busy schedules.

Taking a LAB traffic skills class through TBA will make you a better cyclist and make cycling more enjoyable!

TBA has 4 members who are League Cycling Instructors (LCIs):

Tommy White (Norfolk)

Joe Morgan (Norfolk)

Dan Koach (Va Beach)

Bruce Drees (Va Beach)

When you have completed the online course and are ready to proceed to the "hands-on" phase or if you have other questions about bike-ed, contact Bruce Drees at president@tbarides.org or 757-647-3987.

Toward safer and better cycling!
