Blue Ridge Parkway Weekend
Join us for a weekend of stunning views, beautiful fall colors, and tough climbs on the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP). We will use the Lynchburg NW / Blue Ridge Parkway KOA Campground (*formerly known as Wildwood Campground) as a base camp, and you can cycle as much or as little as you like. Scheduled rides include a 50-mile ride on Saturday starting from H & H Restaurant at 8:30am (or arrive at 7:30am to join us for breakfast) and going south to MP85.7 (Peaks of Otter Restaurant) for lunch (with a spectacular view) and return. The trip to Peaks of Otter takes you from the lowest point on the BRP (MP63.6, 668 ft.) where it crosses the James River, to the highest point on the BRP in VA (MP 76.5, 3950 ft.) atop Apple Orchard Mountain. Bring lots of water for this 12-mile, 3,300' climb! The 12-mile downhill on the way back is reward for your hard work! No SAG support. Optional rides if you arrive early on Friday and on Sunday morning. Meals at local restaurants or cook in camp (see below).
